The 2002 Shiraz/Mataro Pressings, a blend of 55% Shiraz and 45% Mataro with 14.5% alcohol, was aged in primarily American oak. With tremendous intensity and structure as well as a layered mouthfeel, firm tannin, superb blue and black fruits intermingled with loamy soil, pepper, and saddle leather notes, this concentrated, pure blend requires 1-2 years of bottle age. It should keep for 10-14 years (the 1998 remains extremely youthful). Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel (610) 486-0800
