Deeper and richer, the 2011 Syrah Verna’s Vineyard, which was fermented with 70% whole cluster, shows a more masculine, gamey profile with layers of mineral-tinged red fruit, charcoal, pepper and hints of crushed flowers to go with a medium-bodied, polished and elegant mouthfeel. Really showing the vintage, it should be extremely long-lived, yet will benefit from another year or two in the cellar and drink nicely through 2019. Drink 2014-2019.
