The 2009 Protea Chardonnay has a simple, grassy bouquet with attractive leesy aromas that surface on the waxy-textured palate. Notes of lime, pineapple and guava vie for attention, although there is a touch of alcohol taking the edge off of the finish. Drink now. This Franschhoek based winery is named after Anthonij Rupert, the son of South African billionaire Anton Rupert, who tragically died in 2001.
