To complement the tasting of the 2012 and 2013 vintages, Miguel Torres Junior was kind enough to uncork a bottle of the 1982 Mas La Plana, a fully mature wine by now, which had already been converted to a pure Cabernet at the time and had abandoned the other grapes they used in the 1970s in small proportions. It has an orange, brick color and a fully developed nose, with herbal and some smoky notes reminiscent of smoked paprika, with good complexity and intensity, spicy tertiary notes of leather, iodine and tea leaves, balsamic and complex. The nose reminded me more of an aged Burgundy than a Bordeaux. The palate revealed fully resolved tannins and very tasty flavors and a good finish. It's pleasant and ready and shows how these old vintages can age.
