The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle offers impressive transparency on the nose. This is not as fruit driven as the Clos des Fonteny, but it gently unfolds with blackberry and cranberry leaf aromas. The palate is brimming full of red cherry, cranberry and subtle balsamic notes, a fine bead of acidity and great precision on the finish. Bon vin. Understated, but it means business.
