The Hermitage Pied de Cote (a 13,000 bottle cuvee made from young vines) is open-knit, herbaceous, medium-bodied, and superficially attractive. While it reveals some Hermitage character, it is essentially soft and fluid. The 1999 possesses round, easygoing, user-friendly flavors, but minimal depth. It possesses a distinct herbaceous note running through the aromatics and flavors. It is best consumed during its first 7-8 years of life.
