The 2004 Veldenzer Elisenberg Riesling Spatlese possesses among the highest levels of acidity in any wine here this vintage. Overtly mineral even on the nose, this slate-y, salty Riesling exhibits bright lemon and fresh pear aromas. Delicate lovely fruit and pronounced salt and stone characterize the palate. What this lacks in concentration or richness of fruit it partly makes up for in subtle minerality and in balance. It strikes me as a wine that will be most interesting to follow for a dozen or more years. Importer: Langdon-Shiverick Cleveland,?OH; tel. (216) 861-6800.
