The 1995 Late Bottled Vintage Port, bottled in October, 1999, is a blend of 45% Tinta Barroca, 15% Touriga Nacional and 40% Tinta Roriz. It comes in at 93 grams per liter of residual sugar. Focused and vibrant, this does show its alcohol a bit as it airs out, but it generally seems fresh and youthful and the alcoholic impact moderates, then disappears. It lacks the concentration of the 1994, its immediate predecessor in this issue's vertical, but its elegance, structure, expressive fruit and sunnier demeanor compensate well. They make it completely appealing. Finishing with some mild, tannic pop and intense flavors, this ultimately held its own nicely in the vertical. It is on the lighter side only compared to some of the other LBVs in this issue's vertical, but it is quite delicious. Drink it now or hold it – there is no rush. There's a lot going on here.
