This winery, named after its proprietor/winemaker Neil Pikes, is located sixty miles north of Adelaide in Clare Valley. The winery is well-known in Australia for its Riesling, but the reds are also successful, richly fruity wines. I had a slight preference for the 1995 Reisling over the 1996. This dry Riesling exhibits a lemony, citrusy, waxy-scented nose with peach and apricot nuances. It is a ripe, medium-bodied, intense, crisp, vibrantly clean and focused Riesling that should last for 2 years. I was told by the importer that there will be a Reserve offering from the 1994 vintage. In plain-speak, this wine is just out and out ... yummy! Importer: The Australian Premium Wine Collection, imported by Cabo Distributing, South El Monte, CA; tel. (818) 575-8090
