The 2007 Chardonnay EQ was 90% barrel-fermented in 30% new oak and with a small amount of malolactic fermentation. It exhibits scents of minerality, pear, and white fruits as well as some toasty oak. Smooth and subtle on the palate, it has good flavors, integrated oak, and a moderately lengthy finish. Enjoy it over the next three years. The nature of Chile’s wine industry mitigates against small, boutique wineries. One of the few that comes close to qualifying is the biodynamically farmed Matetic winery.
