2015 is an interesting vintage for Cabernet in Margaret River. On the whole, most of the wines are elegant and restrained. They are almost backward, even. Whether we drink them now, while we wait for some of the more forthright vintages to settle, or whether we push these to the very backs of our Cabernet collections is a question pondered by this reviewer, frequently. Here, the 2015 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is floral, spicy and laden with graphite, pencil shavings and charry oak. In the mouth, the fruit is purple and intense, shaped by tobacco leaves, finely ground black pepper and clove. Backwards or forwards? Hold, until that becomes obvious. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
