The 2012 Bancal del Bosc is 70% Garnacha with the balance composed of Carinena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which is still very young and feels fruit-driven with ripe notes of black raspberries, hints of jam and abundant spicy aromas. The palate reveals a subtle, juicy and pleasure-inciting wine, quite primary, that is drinking well now, but should develop more complexity with time. Drink now-2018.
Vinyes Domenech is one of the up-and-coming new names of Montsant. The company is named after its organically farmed, 15-hectare property and is quite ecological-minded, as 90% of electricity used is from renewable sources and all their water comes from rain and other natural sources. Of course, all this would be just an anecdote if their wines were not very good. The vineyards are spread in different terraces (bancales) where the predominant soil is argilo-calcareous.
