Quite mature, but hanging on nicely, with sweetened butter, creamed peach, verbena and lemon pound cake notes all held together by a toasted hazelnut edge on the finish. Butter, honey, nuts, quince, flowers, apple and popcorn nose. Spicy, lively palate with intense oak, ginger and baked lemon notes. Long apple purée length. Alc: 14.5%.

Though the fruit is starting to fade on this mature Chenin, it’s drinking quite beautifully now with rich notes of fresh butter, baked apple, clove-spiced orange and yellow florals on the nose. Peach pit, honeydew and orange oil flesh out the mouth, but the acid cuts through the weight and provides a clean cut to the spice-infused finish. Drink now. ——L.B.(11/1/2011)—— 92
