I have extolled the virtues of Sierra Cantabria's Codice Rosado in the past, and the 1996 is another winner. To insure these wines arrive in this country in good health, the American importer uses temperature controlled containers, and he makes sure his wholesalers handle the wines properly. This 1996 rose is loaded with fresh strawberry and cherry fruit presented in a medium-bodied, nicely textured, exuberant format. The wine possesses amazing aromatics and fruit for a rose, and thus should be drunk in its vivacious youthfulness - over the next 6-12 months. It is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnache (Grenache).
