The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon Collection is an austere, medium-bodied, dry wine, offering attractive herb, vanillin, spice, and curranty fruit, as well as fine purity and presence. This well-made Cabernet Sauvignon is akin to a fine mid-level Bordeaux. This is the best qualitative showing yet for these delicious, beautifully packaged wines from southern France. NOTE: Readers should keep in mind that the Collection series from Fortant de France is slightly more expensive than the regular varietal bottlings. The only Collection bottling I tasted that I cannot recommend is the 1992 Viognier Collection VDP d'Oc, which was too herbaceous and vegetal, although its texture had some appeal.
