Tasted at the 60th anniversary tasting at Domaine d’Auvenay. The 1955 Richebourg Grand Cru is cut from a totally different cloth to the Romanée-Saint-Vivant. This is incredibly youthful, quite rich in the mouth with crushed strawberry and hints of kirsch, cola and a touch of molasses. It is quite compelling. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, harmonious and silky in the mouth with fine acidity and wonderful tension toward the finish that crescendos in the mouth. Majestic.
