The 2004 Tinto Pesquera Reserva offers greater aromatic complexity, a thick, plush palate feel, gobs of fruit, and superb balance. Although it can be enjoyed now, it will be at its best in another 4-6 years and continue to provide pleasure through 2030. Pesquera is Alejandro Fernandez’s flagship estate. Black cherry, cola and licorice flavors mingle in this smooth red. It has firm, well-integrated tannins, enough acidity for balance and a bright, juicy finish. Drink now through 2013.

Ruby-red. Strongly perfumed aromas of dark berries, cherry, flowers and spices, with a restrained oak element. Lush and broad, offering sweet kirsch and cassis flavors firmed by chunky tannins. Turns silkier on the long, velvety finish. This gained vibrancy with aeration and I suspect that it will be at least five more years before it really starts to show what it's got.
