The 2003 ALFROCHEIRO is bright, sharp and powerful, throwing off bursts of acidity on the finish. I suspect there are some who will find this a bit too bright, perhaps a bit rustic, but there is excellent structure here and tasty fruit, when it finally pops up. It could be a bit more refined. Drink now-2013. Owner Luis Lourenco is the genial owner of this well known estate. Talented winemaker Rui Reguina helps things along as well. I think this estate is going to get better and better. Note that Luis bought Quinta das Maias in 1997.
