The potentially outstanding 1999 Syrah Hudson Vineyard boasts an opaque black/purple color that suggests an unctuous texture. Aromas of pepper, blackberry liqueur, and creosote emerge from this full-bodied, silky-textured, dense, concentrated Syrah. Approximately 40% was aged in new French oak, and the remainder in older wood. While there is firm tannin in the finish, this admirable Syrah possesses a gorgeously viscous texture as well as gobs of fruit and glycerin. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2014.
