Another gorgeous wine from Au Bon Climat, the 2012 Pinot Noir Knox Alexander is utterly seamless and perfectly balanced, with classic notes of sweet cherries, damp soil, forest floor and wild herbs. Coming from the Le Bon Climat and Bien Nacido vineyards and aged 20 months in new French oak, this medium-bodied, elegant, silky Pinot Noir has impressive aromatics, but it's on the palate where it really shines. It's drinking nicely now, but given its balance and fine tannin on the finish, it should still be singing at age 10+ as well.
