The 2010 Morellino di Scansano shows great up-front intensity in its fruit. A blast of dark red berries, flowers, mint and spices comes together in the glass. This is a bold style of Morellino with quite a bit of underlying tannic heft. The 2010 needs to be enjoyed with food as it is far from an easygoing Morellino. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. Le Pupille is one of the most fascinating wineries in Italy. Every few years seems to bring a revitalization. The newest development is the arrival of consulting oenologist Luca D’Attoma. It will be interesting to see where Le Pupille goes in the coming years. I think it is safe to say D’Attoma is the hottest winemaker in Tuscany right now.
