This may turn out to be the best De Sales since the 1982. The wine displays a deep ruby color, and a seductive nose of jammy cherries, earth, kirsch, and an intriguing balsam wood note. In the mouth, this supple wine possesses very good concentration, a round, velvety texture, plenty of crowd appeal, and a clean, lush, berry-infused finish. Already drinking well, this 1995 Pomerol should keep for 7-8+ years. A sleeper.
De Sales is on a comeback trail, which is good news for readers looking for a more reasonably priced Pomerol.
