Monteviejo produces one white wine. The 2005 Lindaflor Chardonnay was aged for 18 months in new French oak. Medium gold-colored, it offers up notes of smoky oak, vanilla, butterscotch, and mineral. This leads to an intense wine with good layering and balance. It currently lacks complexity but that may appear with another 2-3 years in the bottle. The 2006 Lindaflor Chardonnay spent only 10 months in new French oak. The wine exhibits more fruit aromatically with notes of white peach, poached pear, mineral, and tropical aromas. The oak is better integrated and the texture is creamier. It offers a lengthy finish and 2-3 years of aging potential.Bodega Monteviejo, owned by Catherine Pere-Verge (also the proprietor of Pomerol’s Le Gay), is located at the foothills of the Andes, next to Vista Flores, south of Mendoza. The globe-trotting Michel Rolland is in charge of winemaking.Importer: Bob Bofman Selections, Austin, TX; tel. (512) 919-9463
