Laurent's top 1993s are massively concentrated, huge, intense wines that will require 8-10 years of cellaring. The grand crus from Gevrey-Chambertin are some of the finest wines in the Laurent portfolio. Laurent's Chambertin (only 150 bottles made, of which 30 will be allocated to the United States), along with that from Domaine Leroy and Domaine Ponsot, is the finest young Chambertin I have tasted. It boasts an astonishing extract level, fabulously sweet, rich fruit, full body, a fragrance that envelops the taster, and a long, pure, moderately tannic, compellingly rich finish that lasts for over 45 seconds. It will be drinkable in 5-8 years and will keep for 20-25 years.The Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles St.-Jacques, Gevrey-Chambertin Poissenots, Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques, Ruchottes-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, and Chambertin are all immensely structured, over-sized 1993 red Burgundies that will require considerable patience.
