The 1993 Gewurztraminer Clos Windsbuhl served at the tasting was showing all the signs of a Gewurztraminer on its last legs. Its once fruit-dominated aromas and flavor profile (I've tasted it many times over the years) have given way to petrol/chemical scents and a floral/mineral, light-bodied character. What was once a rich, well-balanced, harmonious wine is now beginning to display the disjointedness that comes with too much bottle age. It remains a very good wine but will soon fade away. Drink up.
