If Williams-Selyem has proven the ability to produce potentially prodigious Pinot Noirs, they have also shown an equal talent with Zinfandel. Unfortunately, it is of limited production. Both the 1989 and 1990 Zinfandels are impressive effort. These Zins display huge black-raspberry, peppery aromas along with gobs of smoky oak. Both are medium to full-bodied, with the 1990 showing slightly more glycerin and ripeness. Both have considerable alcoholic clout, chewy textures, and explosively rich, highly extracted finishes. Both can be drunk now. The 1990 will last for up to a decade.
