From plots distributed throughout the slope, with younger and older vines and fermented entirely in steel tank, the 2020 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett shows itself as a lush, round, piquant and quite dense Kabinett with serious structure and persistent, salivating salinity and crystallinity. It is a mouthful of Riesling that tastes rather like a feinherb Sp?tlese more than a sweet Kabinett. Whatever it is, it will be a fun wine in seven to 10+ years. 9% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted from AP 3821 in November 2021.

From the flurbereinigt (reconstructed) part of the vineyard, 2016 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett is very clear and concentrated on the slightly flinty nose where ripe apricot aromas are displayed. Lush, light and piquant, this is an elegant, juicy and refined Kabinett bottled with 8% alcohol. The wine is well structured and finishes with good grip and mineral tension without losing its finesse. Tasted March 2018.

The 2015 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett is super clear, precise and fresh but also perfectly ripe and flinty on the nose. Round and lush on the palate, this is a well structured though not very deep or complex Riesling with a nice mineral grip in the finish. To swallow in larger sips...
