From 100-year-old vines in the Goldwingert and super ripe and overripe grapes, the 2022 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese is very precise and clear as a mountain stream on the fresh and still reductive nose. Lush and fresh on the palate, with an elegant and savory texture, this is a precise, sharp and well concentrated, finely sweet and saline Auslese that will be very digestible after a decade or more of bottle aging. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.

Picked with the Kabinett but based on highly ripe and overripe or freshly botrytized grapes, the 2019 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese is precise, piquant and fresh on the coolish and herbal/slatey nose that displays concentrated aromas of lemon, grapefruit and mustard chutney as well as excitingly mineral nuances in the background. Round, lush and refined on the palate, this is a salty-piquant, precise and persistently intense and concentrated Auslese with sharp acidity and tension. This Auslese needs years to age and to complete its talents. Try again in 20 years. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

From 60- to 80-year-old vines and picked at 100° Oechsle (with 30% of botrytis), the 2016 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese has a fine and refreshing mineral bouquet of ripe, tropical Riesling notes along with smoky slate aromas. Piquant, pure and very slatey on the palate, this is a lush and refreshing Auslese with stimulating purity and salinity. There is good tension and finesse here as well—elegantly lithe and delicate.
