Tight and intense, with firm, dry, grainy and raw-edged tannins cloaked around dried berry, mineral, currant and graphite. Drink now through 2018. 750 cases made. –JL

It’s soft and gentle in texture, yet richly tannic, with complex blackberry, black currant, herb and cedar flavors. It shows the classic elegance that’s characteristic of this mountain vineyard site. Drink over the next 3–4 years. — (9/1/2012) —91

Exhibits a mix of ripe plum and black cherry flavors, with subtle mineral, sage, anise, licorice and cedar notes. Full-bodied and slow to unfold, but does so gracefully, ending with light, smoky notes. Drink now through 2018. 725 cases made. -JL

Another wonderful Cabernet from this fine winery, which manages to finesse Spring Mountain’s notorious tannins. While it’s diamond hard and dry, with a brittle minerality, it’s extravagantly lush in blackberry, cherry, cassis and licorice fruit, accented with 95% new French oak.
