The 2018 Topaz Impérial Brut Rosé is a blend of 47% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay with the rest Pinot Meunier, coming in with eight grams of sugar, 7.12 of total acidity and 11.8% alcohol (actual). It was disgorged November 24, 2020, after 15 months on the lees (the date is not on the label, but there will be only this disgorgement, so there can be no confusion). This is probably a lighter and somewhat easier wine than the 2017, granting that both are not here together, but as an off-vintage performance, this 2018 shows great. Of course, grapes for sparklers can be picked a bit early. They do not always have to be as ripe. This has a reasonably crisp edge to go with an elegant presentation. The fruit is a little muted, but that doesn't seem to be a notable issue in this appealing and understated style. This drinks nicely now. It should hold throughout most of the decade. There were 825 cases produced.

Topaz Imperial is Sparkling Pointe’s first nonvintage blend of the three traditional Champagne grape varieties. While intensely aromatic of ripe red berries and plums, it maintains an elegant dryness throughout. Rich on the palate with a soft, delicate mousse, it lingers long on an earthy, mushroom-scented finish. ——A.I.(12/1/2011)—— 87

Pale peach in color, this softly sparkling blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay smells sweetly of red apples and a hint of lanolin. There’s a gentle sweetness upon entry that carries through the finish with a bright acidity and pleasant apple and pear notes. ——A.I.(12/15/2010)—— 86

This wine has a delicious, robust character, starting with aromas of toasted nut, strawberry, cherry and apple and followed by full-bodied flavors of strawberry, nuts and vanilla. The wine is balanced but will pair better with slightly bigger dishes.——S.K.(12/15/2009)—— 89
