Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Ewald Vineyard exudes wonderfully fragrant lilac and kirsch notes, accented by scents of cinnamon toast, raspberry pie and dried Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied with a taut line of grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, it has wonderful intensity and depth with a long perfumed finish. 3,456 cases were made.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Ewald Vineyard offers expressive notes of red and black cherries, mulberries and Chinese five spice with hints of dusty soil and red currant jelly. Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh and lively, it has silky tannins and good persistence. This is classic Russian River Pinot!

From clones 115 and 777 at a property directly behind the Kistler winery, the 2014 Pinot Noir Ewald Vineyard is a small cuvée that displays attractive sweet and sour cherry fruit, some pomegranate, adequate acidity, light tannin, and a seductive, lush mouthfeel. This is an endearing Pinot Noir to drink over the next 5-6 years.

From the small vineyard directly behind the Kistler Winery, the 2013 Pinot Noir Ewald Vineyard, made from Dijon clones 115 and 777, shows fresh, lively red and blackcurrant flavors, a touch of sweet and sour cherries, pretty and fragrant aromatics, good acidity and a medium-bodied, deep ruby personality. It should drink nicely for another 3-4 years.

From a small vineyard located just behind Kistler, the 2012 Pinot Noir Ewald Vineyard offers up pretty strawberry, blueberry, rose and exotic tropical notes to go with a soft, supple, yet beautifully pure style on the palate. While I don’t think this will make old bones, it should evolve nicely over the coming 3-4 years given its overall balance, purity and harmony.
