The 2018 Noir de Diel is a dark-colored, deep and spicy red wine blend with toasty notes intermingled with ripe and dark berry aromas along with ripe banana and toasty notes. Elegant, refined and fresh, this is a dense and silky-textured, fruit-intense and finely structured red wine with power, texture and tannins. It's mot really complex but serves the red wine needs of many consumers. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.

Blending Pinot Noir with roughly 20% of Dornfelder, the 2016 Noir de Diel offers a deep, intense and charming bouquet of perfectly ripe dark cherries, black berries and spicy notes such as cloves, licorice and cigar box. Noble. On the palate, this is a delicate and charmingly silky-textured, peppery red wine with remarkable finesse and a concentrated fruit core. There are fine but firm tannins here and a nice deal of oak and salted licorice. This is a serious red wine with moderate 12.5% alcohol and a subtle freshness. Try it with cheese and dark meat.

The 2014 Noir de Diel is a dark colored and spicy flavored red wine with dark fruit flavors. It is predominantly based on Pinot Noir, with a bit of Dornfelder, and the yields are reduced dramatically. It is a German classic with spicy, peppery, laurel and clove aromas.

The 2013 Noir de Diel has a delicious nose of dark cherries and red berries intertwined with beetroot and some spicy flavors. This is delicious, silky textured and well structured red that combines Pinot Noir with the talents of Dornfelder, which gives a certain spiciness and grip on the palate. Aged for 18 months in used barriques and bottled unfiltered ,this is delicious red for low budget.
