Composed of 60% Shiraz and 40% Mataro, the 2009 Hubris Shiraz Mataro has a deep garnet-purple color and a pronounced nose of warm black cherries and blackberries over nuances of cloves, cinnamon stick, spice cake, black truffles and tobacco. Medium to full bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, it offers a great concentration of warm berry and spice flavors offset by a medium to firm level of velvety tannins and crisp acid. Medium to full-bodied it offers plenty of earth and savory fruit flavors with a good backbone of high acid and firm, chewy tannins. Approachable now, it should continue to drink to 2017+.
