Blended of Shiraz 96% and Cabernet Sauvignon 4%, the 2009 Heysen Shiraz has a deep purple-black color and alluring notes of blackberry and black plum preserves over a subtle undercurrent of fruit cake, Indian spices, sandalwood and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is quite taut with a firm backbone of grainy tannins and crisp acidity, finishing with layers of spice, berry preserves and savory hints. Drink it now to 2021+. The 2007 Heysen Shiraz offers up a captivating nose of pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, smoked meat, and blueberry. The 2006 Shiraz Heysen is a saturated purple color with legs that ooze slowly down the glass. The nose offers aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, truffle, espresso, black cherry, and blueberry.
