The 2011 Highness Riesling offers a good intensity of vibrant citrus aromas - fresh lime juice and lemon peel - over hints of orange blossom and crushed stones. Light bodied and dry on the palate, it gives a great concentration of lemon and grapefruit flavors marked by very crisp acidity, finishing long and zesty. Rolf Binder’s 2010 Highness Riesling gives an intense nose of lime juice, honeysuckle, white pepper and coriander seed. Dry, light to medium-bodied and with good concentration of citrusy fruit, crisp acid and just a hint of sweetness, it has a long zesty finish. Drink it now to 2015. Rolf Binder’s 2009 Riesling Highness has a lovely floral-accented perfume with aromas of citrus, melon, and honey. On the palate it reveals a touch of residual sugar (6 g/L) in a Mosel Kabinett style. It is likely to evolve for 2-3 years and offer pleasure through 2019. The 2008 Riesling Highness, from Eden Valley, a prime spot for Riesling, reveals an enticing bouquet of spring flowers, mineral, lemon-lime, and other citrus aromas. The 2005 Riesling Highness (a blend of 85% Eden Valley and 15% Barossa fruit) reveals gorgeous pithy green apple and pear-like notes with hints of citrus oil and crushed rocks in the background. Fragrant and chalky, with a distinctive terroir element, this dry Riesling should be enjoyed over the next year. Note: These wines were formerly sold under the Veritas name, but because of trademark problems, Rolf Binder is in the process of changing his wines’ labels.
