The red 2015 Gotes del Priorat is a blend of Garnacha with 40% Cari?ena and 10% of Syrah that expresses the landscape of Priorat with wild herbs and esparto grass, some dusty notes and a hint of spices from its élevage in barriques and foudres for some nine months. The palate is medium-bodied with some grainy tannins, with freshness and punch, powerful enough to stand up to food. There are 37,500 bottles produced.

The red 2013 Gotes del Priorat is a blend in equal parts of Garnacha and Cari?ena grown on the classic llicorella slate soils form Priorat. The wine was full-cluster fermented in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts then matured in used barriques for nine months. There are plenty of wild aromas of raw meat, blood, iron and a hint of leather and wet fur lending this wine an animal character. The palate is medium-bodied with some acidity and a tendency to dry out in the finish. 35,160 bottles.

The 2012 Gotes del Priorat is a 50/50 blend of Garnacha and Carinena from slate soils. The nose shows great depth and concentration with aromas of black fruit, spices and hints of minerals with a polished palate displaying round tannins and a velvety texture with pungent flavors amplified by the alcohol. A great introduction to red Priorat at a good price. Drink now-2018. Lawyer Alfredo Arribas has been the name behind Portal del Priorat since 2001. The wines are sourced from the property Clos del Portal, located between the villages of Lloar and Bellmunt. He also produces another Priorat under the Ediciones i-Limitadas label. You will find his wines also in Montsant (Portal del Montsant before, but under his own name now and Ediciones i-Limitadas). More will come in the future, as he has a new biodynamic project in a high-altitude vineyard. Anything with the name of Alfredo Arribas deserves attention, as the great collection of wines from Priorat show.
