Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (a barrel sample composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec) gives up notes of lifted blueberries, warm plums and mulberries with touches of tree bark, incense, baking spices and violets. Full-bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, it has a beautiful backbone of grainy tannins and just enough acid lift to pull off the long, spicy finish with great finesse.

Composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate gives a deep garnet-purple color and fragrant nose of crushed black cherries and blueberries with suggestions of violets, dark chocolate and cinnamon stick plus a waft of cigar box. The voluptuous, full-bodied palate layers on the fruit and spice flavors, framed by plush tannins and culminating in a very long, fruit-driven finish. Decadent stuff!

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, is a beauty. Bigger-boned and framed than many 2014s, with more structure, this is classic Oakville material, with an opaque purple color and a big, sweet kiss of graphite, blackcurrants, Christmas fruitcake and spice box. Full-bodied and opulent, with moderate tannin, this is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next 20 or more years.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Oakville is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot aged in 80% new French oak. A beautiful, saturated purple color offers up blackberry, crème de cassis, licorice, charcoal and camphor. Full-bodied, yet still youthful and tight, it is bursting with terrific purity, texture and length. This big, classic Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon will hit its prime in 10-15 years, and last 30 or more years, based on how older vintages from this sector have aged. It's a beauty.
