The Pio Cesare 2020 Langhe Chardonnay L'Altro is super zesty and fresh and exactly the kind of wine you'll want as the sun starts to set at the end of a summer day at the beach. The wine shows an incredibly lively and lifted quality of fruit that immediately puts a smile on your face. Citrus, peach, honeydew melon and aromas of crushed rock seal the deal.

The Pio Cesare 2019 Langhe Chardonnay L'Altro is a delightfully fresh and easy-drinking white that awards good cheer and pleasure. The wine is basically all Chardonnay with a tiny percentage of Sauvignon Blanc that adds aromatic intensity. L'Altro is tight and linear with focused aromas of citrus, white peach and a pretty touch of bitter almond. I could see pairing this cool-climate white wine with grilled shrimp in a butter and tarragon sauce. Some 20,000 bottles were made.

The 2017 Langhe Chardonnay L'Altro reveals brilliant luminosity with pale golden highlights. The wine presents subtle aromas of citrus and tropical fruit, but overall the aromatic intensity is mild and soft. This is an easy-drinking Chardonnay to pair with appetizers or simple seafood dishes. Some 30,000 bottles were made.

Unique and appealing, with scents of pear drop and roasted walnuts leading into a luxuriously textured palate. Caramel notes from toasty new oak vie with kiwi flavors in the mouth while the finish is long and dry. Drink now or age a few years for even more complexity.——W.E.(2/1/2010)—— 89
