Pale ruby-purple, the 2019 Pinot Noir Double L Vineyard is scented of cranberry and wild blackberries with notes of dark spice, citrus peel and potpourri. Medium-bodied, it offers gently chalky tannins, very fresh acidity and crunchy fruits, finishing with sweet spice notes.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Double L Vineyard sports a pale to medium ruby-purple color and is scented of Bing cherries, fresh raspberries and wild strawberries with hints of sautéed herbs and underbrush. Medium-bodied, it has a chewy frame and lovely freshness with plenty of expressive/earthy fruit, finishing with an herbal lift.

Coming all from estate fruit (which is located in the northern part of the appellation), the 2014 Pinot Noir Double L Vineyard is a beautiful wine well worth readers' attention. Ripe red and black fruits, underbrush, spice (clove, allspice) and hints of crushed rocks all emerge from this medium-bodied, silky and seamless Pinot Noir that has terrific vibrancy and purity. It will easily keep through 2024.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Double L Vineyard has plenty of toasty oak to go with both red and black fruits, scorched earth, licorice and hints of flowers. Nicely balanced with a full, rich mid-palate and good acidity, it’s needs 6-12 months to integrate its élevage (it spent 10 months in 50% new French oak), and should drink nicely through 2021.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Double L Vineyard (which is short for Double Luck) is a solid, although slightly straightforward effort that gives up dark fruits, cherry blossom, spice and leather-like qualities to go with a medium-bodied, focused and nicely balanced feel on the palate. I think the oak is slightly heavy-handed here (aged ten months in 55% new French oak), but I like the purity of fruit, as well as the mid-palate. It will be better in another year or so, and have 7-8 years of overall longevity, possibly longer.
