Composed of 87% Syrah, 9% Grenache and 4% Tempranillo, the 2015 Syrah G17 has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of licorice, tar and black soil over a core of blackberries and cassis, with hints of dark chocolate and cloves. Medium-bodied, with a good core of black fruit and plenty of pepper and spice, the expressive fruit is well framed by ripe, rounded tannins and it finishes on a lovely aniseed note.

Lastly, the 2014 Syrah G17 checks in as a blend of 86% Syrah, 7% Grenache and 7% Tempranillo that has plenty to love. Giving up notions of plums, blackberries, licorice, crushed violets and spice, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a pretty, elegant and seamless texture and a great finish. It's a charming Syrah to enjoy over the coming 5-6 years.

A smoking value, the inky colored 2013 Syrah G17 knocks it out of the park with its classic, peppery, dark-fruited bouquet and juicy, forward style on the palate. Made from 78% Syrah, 11% Tempranillo and 11% Grenache that spent 14 months in 11% new French oak, buy this beauty by the case and enjoy bottles over the coming 3-4 years.

Made from 80% Syrah, and 10% each of Grenache and Tempranillo, the 2012 Syrah G17 offers a bright, fresh and lively profile to go with plenty of darker fruits, peppery herbs, cedar and charred earth. This medium-bodied, focused and nicely put together effort will have 4-5 years of enjoyable drinking.

With additional purity and elegance, the 2011 Syrah G17 exhibits a solid, classy character, medium-bodied richness and juicy acidity. Loaded with black raspberry, licorice, flowers, new leather and olive aromas and flavors, enjoy it over the coming 4-5 years. Drink now-2018.
