The delightfully fresh and easy-drinking Tormaresca 2018 Castel del Monte Chardonnay Pietrabianca is a lean-weight white wine that offers just a touch of tangy citrus, a spot of fragrant white flower and a dash of zesty minerality. Together, these elements create a balanced and absolutely refreshing white wine to pair with fish or salads. It ends with a limestone or chalky grip. This zippy Chardonnay takes you straight to the long, sandy beaches of Puglia.

Tormaresca's 2017 Castel del Monte Chardonnay Pietrabianca is a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Fiano. The Chardonnay sees a brief four months in oak, but the Fiano sees no contact with wood. This makes for a clean and bright expression that is redolent of orchard fruit and citrus, a perfect white to pair with the local mussel, rice and potato dish called tiella Barese. The wine is simple and streamlined, but this vintage is slightly thicker and richer on the mid-palate. Some 80,000 bottles were released.

The Tormaresca 2014 Castel del Monte Chardonnay Pietrabianca is blended with 10% Fiano that makes a perfect fit. This is a slightly creamy and fuller-bodied white wine from Puglia that boasts a richer and more sophisticated personality compared to its peers. Despite the difficulties of the vintage, the wine shows solid lines and a rich core that is padded with peach, exotic fruit and honey-roasted almond. Dusty mineral tones give the wine lift and a feeling of deep delineation.

Enhanced with 10% Fiano, the 2013 Castel del Monte Chardonnay Pietrabianca is a clean and luminous expression with a pretty assembly of fruity and floral aromas on the bouquet. It is aged in barrique for five months, but any oak tones are barely perceptible. Instead, you get great intensity with peach cobbler, honeydew melon, citrus and pear. In the mouth, Pietrabianca delivers moderate consistency and an almost-creamy feel. The wine's body is light enough to pair with fresh fish and vegetables. It never feels too heavy and that is its greatest achievement.
