Aromas of plums, dark berries, baking chocolate and spices preface the 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village, a medium-bodied, perfumed and lively wine with powdery tannins and a nicely defined, sapid finish.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village opens in the glass with notes of wild berries, woodsmoke, plums and spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, built around powdery tannins and lively acids. Leroux produced fully 32 barrels of this cuvée this year.

The 2016 Vosne Romanee Villages is an expanded cuvée since Leroux takes all the fruit from his contractors. It has an engaging bouquet with a gorgeous red cherry and strawberry bouquet laced with violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red and black fruit, quite a good backbone for a village cru partly from whole bunch (50+%) with a detailed finish. Recommended.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Village, which is 50% whole bunch this year, has a touch of oyster shell infusing the tensile red berry fruit, almost Morey-like in profile. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and succulent tannin, well-judged acidity and superb fruit concentration on the finish. Give it a year in bottle.

The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Villages has a delineated bouquet of black cherry and boysenberry fruit, with cold stone in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, the oak needing some more time to be fully subsumed, and with a seam of savoriness on the finish. Not bad for a village cru, though it does not elicit a cavalcade of superlatives.
