The 2017 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is light to medium ruby-purple in the glass and smells of crushed blueberries, ripe black cherries and black berries with accents of violet, lilac, forest floor, woodsmoke and cola—a very pretty, elegant nose. Light to medium-bodied and silky textured, it offers concentrated layers of fruit and spice lightly framed by soft, silken tannins and wonderful juicy freshness, finishing very long and energetic. 307 cases produced.

This site, which was planted in 2006, continues to impress and the 2014 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is a beauty. Offering a killer bouquet of black raspberry, cassis, crushed flowers and incense, this deep ruby/purple and translucent colored 2014 is medium to full-bodied, has beautiful purity, integrated acidity and a seamless, elegant style that makes it already hard to resist.

The best vintage yet from this young vineyard that was planted in 2006, the 2013 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard has a terrific bouquet of creme de cassis, shiitake mushroom, forest floor and freshly crushed rocks. Elegant, seamless and with a crystalline feel that's missing from the Garys' Vineyard, it's tight, focused and slightly reserved at the moment, yet has beautiful fruit, plenty of texture and a great finish. It needs 2-3 years of cellaring and will have 15 years of overall longevity.

Coming from a Santa Lucia Highlands vineyard that was planted in 2006, the 2012 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is thrilling stuff that’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Loaded with perfumed red and black fruits, mushroom, cured meats and spice, it shows the darker, more earthy side to the variety. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered and textured, it’s a killer bottle of wine to drink over the coming 4-6 years, possibly longer.

Offering up beautiful kirsch, red currants, underbrush, crushed flowers and spice aromas and flavors, the 2011 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is supremely elegant and finesse-driven on the palate, with a medium-bodied, supple and silky feel that’s framed by sweet tannin and juicy acidity. Already approachable, it should drink nicely through 2019, if not longer. Drink now-2019.
