The 2021 Pinot Noir The Haven Vineyard is notable for its elegant structure and powerful flavor. Pale ruby-purple, it has fantastically layered aromas: cranberry sauce and rhubarb are complemented by endlessly shifting tones of juniper, sage, lilac, tea leaves, cracked pepper and earth. The medium-bodied palate is just as alluring with its powerful, slowly unfurling layers of spicy fruit. It has a seamless structure and a tremendously long finish with a fan of botanical spice. Only 300 cases were made.

The 2019 Pinot Noir The Haven Vineyard, from vines planted in 2001 at 1,200 feet in elevation, has a medium ruby color and a slowly unfolding perfume of crushed red cherries, blood orange, cinnamon, licorice, mushrooms and fir needles. The medium-bodied palate offers the featherweight feel and concentrated flavors of the best 2019 Pinot Noirs, boasting silky tannins and seamless acidity. It has a long, layered finish that segues from red fruit to earth and spice, and it will continue to unfold in bottle over the next decade or more. Only 328 cases were made.

Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir The Haven Vineyard opens slowly to fresh blackberry and rhubarb fruits with notes of tar, licorice, dried violets and Earl Grey tea leaves—it's aromatically very layered. The medium-bodied palate begins with minerally undertones and blossoms out to bright, floral and citrus-laced fruits. It feels packed with very finely grained tannins and finishes long and perfumed with great pops of freshness. This will benefit from another 2-3 years in bottle.

Ted Lemon says, "The Mays Pinot Noir was picked in late August and the Haven fruit was picked three weeks later. After the heat, things shut down and that's why we waited another three weeks to pick. But to me, there's a commonality of vintage." The 2017 Pinot Noir The Haven Vineyard is pale to medium ruby with scents of spiced blackberry pie, citrus peel, dried tea leaves, crushed stone and dried flowers with a core of crushed black cherry, dried cranberries, rhubarb and tobacco leaf. The palate is light to medium-bodied and broody with amaro-tinged fruits and great floral sparks. It has a firm, fine-grained frame and seamless acidity, finishing long and layered.
