The 2011 Ramandolo (375-milliliter) is an impressive effort and a distinctive dessert wine. It shows a dark amber appearance with gold and copper highlights. The bouquet opens to gorgeous richness with honey, candied fruit and maple syrup on immediate display. In the mouth, it exhibits fabulous smoothness and richness. The wine offers good complexity, but it really excels in terms of intensity and purity.

The 2010 Ramandolo (100% Verduzzo Friulano) is representative of one of the lesser-known appellations in Friuli. The dessert wine pours from the bottle with a golden-orange color and candied aromas of butterscotch and caramelized brown sugar. Thick streaks of glycerin run down the side of the glass and you feel that extra heft and succulent sweetness on the finish. Candied fruit flavors are copious and inviting. Drink: 2014-2020.
