    Just-ripe strawberries and black cherries, followed by blanched almonds and a touch of sandalwood. Medium-bodied with firm yet fine-grained tannins and crisp acidity. Good length and depth overall. Orange-zest aftertaste. Hold until 2026.

    The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra offers extra brawn and power spread over ripe cherry and baked fruit. The heat and drought of the 2017 vintage come through with clarity in this single-vineyard expression. The wine is also broader and thicker in terms of its textural fiber, with some astringency on the ripe tannins. It's not perfectly balanced now, but the wine could use a few years of bottle aging for sure. Production is 15,000 bottles.

    This is a well-known single-vineyard expression from Montalcino. The La Lecciaia 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra opens to heavy and rich fruit tones that recall ripe cherry and dried blackberry. The wine shows inner sweetness and ripeness that is underlined in this sunny vintage. With a telling 14.5% alcohol content, you are treated to rich tones of tobacco, cedar and savory spice appearing on its classically fresh Sangiovese finish. This is a power-packed Brunello to enjoy with a dish of gnocchi, ragù and lots of pecorino.

    This single-vineyard expression from Fattoria La Lecciaia shows a lot more power and length compared to the annata Brunello. A more complete wine, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra offers a full sense of volume and deep layering. The bouquet shows dark fruit with dried plum and black currant. However, the finish is short. Only 6,000 bottles were produced.

    The Fattoria La Lecciaia 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra is fermented in stainless steel and then moves over to a combination of both barrique and botte grande for 30 months of aging. This wine offers good dimension and thickness with dark fruit, plum, blackberry and dried currant. The texture is chewy, round and reflective of the warm vintage. I would suggest a near to medium-term drinking window.
