The 2015 Barbaresco Montubert is a near-term wine with an easy aromatic profile. It showcases dried cherry, red currant, cedar smoke and moist potting soil. This Barbaresco ages in medium-toast barrique and tonneaux for 24 months. Some 13,250 bottles were made.

Icardi's house style prizes dark and thickly concentrated expressions of Nebbiolo. The 2014 Barbaresco Montubert offers broad shoulders and enriched density that impacts the nose and the palate. The bouquet is savory and spicy with dark fruit intensity backed by moist earth, tar and leather.

Montubert is a fantasy name, not the name of an actual vineyard site in the appellation. The bouquet of the 2013 Barbaresco Montubert shows dry or pressed flowers, and the wine displays sharp lines. This is a classic vintage, but the wine's taste profile reminds me of Nebbiolo from a cool growing season. The finish is compact and tight.
