This 2021 Shiraz from Padthaway leads with mint and mulberry, blackcurrant pastille and licorice. The wine is supple, full of flavor, and while simple, it nails all the juicy, fruit-driven qualities that we expect from Australian Shiraz. It's a lovely wine. This was tasted blind as part of the "Value for Money" tasting in September 2023. RRP $28 AUD.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Padthaway Shiraz is a little closed with minty, blueberry preserves aromas melded to warm plum and kirsch notes with an undercurrent of spices and anise. It is a very big, full and alcoholic wine with medium firm, chewy and bitter tannins alongside loads of fruit concentration and a long, savory finish. Drink it now to 2018+. Deep garnet in color, the 2008 Padthaway Shiraz reveals dried plums, mulberries, chocolate, cloves and cigar boxes. Full, rich and voluptuous in the mouth, it has a medium to firm level of chewy tannins, lively acid and a lengthy finish. Drink it now to 2017+. Imported by Chatelaine, Inc., Dallas, TX

Deep garnet colored, the 2007 Padthaway Shiraz gives pronounced notes of blackberry compote, cloves and Indian spices with hints of smoky bacon and chocolate. Medium to full bodied, generously fruited, with refreshing acidity, plus a medium level of velvety tannins, it has touches of vanilla and cedar in the long finish. Drinking nicely now, it should continue to cellar to 2016. No known US importer.

Very deep garnet in color with a hint of purple, the Farmer’s Leap 2005 Shiraz has pronounced notes of ripe black currant and blackberry with some tar, damp earth, licorice and roasted coffee beans. Some cedar notes still remain. Full-bodied with firm grainy tannins and crisp acid, it has plenty of expressive dark berry fruit and earth flavors, finishing long with lingering notes of cloves and anise. Drink it now to 2016+. No known USA importer.
