With a white screw-cap capsule, the Ettore Germano 2021 Langhe Riesling Hérzu opens to a crystalline appearance with aromas of white flower, sage, green papaya and flinty stone. The wine is soft and even slightly sweet in terms of mouthfeel with a creamy, mid-weight presentation. We should expect an evolution toward spice and petroleum with a little more time in bottle. But if you want to drink it now, that's also a good option. Production is 27,000 bottles.

Closed in a screw-capped bottle, the 2020 Langhe Riesling Hérzu opens to varietal aromas of citrus and green apple with distant hints of petrol and latex. The wine is steely and tight with a snappy, reductive quality that adds to its immediate drinking appeal. There is a point of sweet grapefruit on the close.

Closed in a screw-cap bottle, the 2019 Langhe Riesling Hérzu reveals an enormously citrusy bouquet, with passion fruit, white peach and honey. Varietal tones of white licorice and dried ginger make faint appearances, and there are vague hints of the petrol and spice that usually follow when Riesling takes on even just a little more age. This wine shows precision and focus. Some 27,000 bottles comprise this above-average Riesling, so keep an eye out for it.
