My favorite of this producer's 1994s was the least expensive (my peasant tastes again?), the 1994 Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Ried Schutt. Minerals, earth, and ripe, exotic tropical fruit aromas dominated the wine's aromatics. Some honeyed ripeness and good spice completed the picture of this soft, round, generous wine. It is ideal for drinking over the next 1-2 years. Importer: a Terry Theise Selection, Milton S. Kronheim & Co., Jessup, MD; tel. (410) 724-3369
